The Museum-house of writer and philosopher Miguel de Unamuno (1864-1936) occupies the baroque structure that used to be, for many years, residence of the rectors of the University of Salamanca. After Unamuno’s death, the University adapted the building paying special attention to its historic-artistic atmosphere and trying to recreate the familiar and cozy environment where the intellectual had lived. The furniture and many mementos, his and his children’s, were brought from his family home in Bordadores, and are now displayed in the dining room, study, bedroom and rector’s hall. The library also stands out, containing more than 6,000 volumes collected by Miguel de Unamuno.
